JANET COLLENETTE

Since 2011, Collenette has been painting fine art murals. Her unique style of illustration is based on shape and various theories. Collenette designs butterfly life cycles and other conceptual illustrations. Her latest work shows the stages of the monarch butterfly life cycle, amid vibrantly coloured blooms, displayed in the monarch butterfly shape.

There are four different levels of detail, from realism to line art, that Collenette creates in. She designs distinctive, unique, interiors and exteriors, creating ambient spaces with fine art murals.

Collenette is a qualified Illustrator and Multimedia Designer, with the 'Bachelor of Applied Visual Imaging', gained at UCOL. She is also an award-winning photographer, which reflects in her artwork.

John Baxter2.jpg

JOHN BAXTER

Well known from Yorkshire, England, John is an artist, photographer, poet, songwriter, musician, prop maker, and furniture designer with a Diploma in Creative Industries.

The context of John's artwork centers around the inter-connectivity of life forces from the cellular to the celestial; in particular the attraction, repulsion, or grouping of objects due to electrical, magnetic, or chemical bonding.

John's current work has been inspired by the silence of introspection of the covid era, followed by the somewhat chaotic emergence back into the public realm - traffic, people, illness, litter, and noise.

POP UP ART GALLERY EVENTS & WORKSHOPS

Artist between three countries

My art relates to my life in Tauranga, New Zealand, Alice Springs in Central Australia and my homeland Germany; about my feeling of living in those three places and my love for the people in each country.  How the rich colours of Central Australia inspire me as much as the places in Germany where I grew up and like to travel to and New Zealand where I live now.   Art is also always about love, exploring ones inner life and what we are taking with us from all the worlds we live in.   Abstract art gives enormous freedom. After painting representatively from an early age, I was involved in a school project and a classmate suggested to 'just go wild'. I never looked back. My life experiences and how I feel about life, weaves into my paintings, often ahead of time. It is a struggle at times to have my heart in all three places. My art and delving into my subject gives me the opportunity to look closer at my feelings of displacement and homesickness I carry at times, and to explore creatively what it means to live in one place, wanting to be in all three at the same time. Though the joy of connecting with people and countries ultimately weaves through and feeling very much at home here in Tauranga has helped me finally feeling settled.
